Trail Talk – 6/4/18

Some of you might have heard that Philmont Scout ranch is experiencing a major fire. Currently about 32000 acres have burned in or around Philmont. There have been no injuries or fatalities.
Philmont is assessing this years program. we are going to Philmont although the treks we picked might be adjusted. I will keep everyone informed.

All Philmont participants are asked to come to the Philmont Shakedown this weekend at Rota-Kiwan scout reservation. Please come Friday night about 7pm. everyone must find their own ride. I will have signs up at the entrance to camp on where to go in camp. We will be done about 9:30am Sunday morning.
Please pack you backpacks with the gear your are bringing to Philmont. This would include tents if you have one. Be prepared for any kind of weather.

Please if you have not done so I need all Summer camp and Philmont Physicals forms, release forms and copies of insurance turned in Tuesday June 5th Please she Sherry to turn them in.

I have confirmation on the Merit Badges at summer camp and will post these at the meeting.

Our Mini High Adventure is August 2-5 to Gettysburg. the cost is $125 per person and a $25 deposit is now due. Please do this asap thanks

Labor day weekend this year we are going to do a new activity, walking the Mackinac Bridge. We leave Friday August 31 at 10am and will be camping at the Straits State Park. this is right by the bridge. On Saturday we will be tourist and go to Mackinaw Island and spent the day there. On Sunday we will again do some sight seeing around the area. On Labor day we will hike the bridge and leave about 1pm to come home. Cost for this event will be around $60, this would include the boat ride to the Island. Please sign up so we have a idea on how many are going. We saved 36 spots and request that priority goes to scouts first and leaders, families may go if there is room. Please sign up by June 30.

I have a new shipment of Red Troop 244 shirts in, Cost is $10 a shirt.

Our Troop meeting during the summer months will be devoted to non-Eagle required merit badges, we would like each patrol to select a badge and ask me for my approval starting Tuesday. thanks. This does not include first year scouts as your goal is to have you a 1st class scout by November
