Trail Talk – 11/1/24

THERE IS NO SCOUTS NEXT WEEK TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5TH. With it being election day and with it being an election that can cause emotions to run high, the church is asking groups to not meet at church on Tuesday, Nov. 5th. They are even closing the daycare for that day. Please do not go to the church on Nov. 5th, next Tuesday, for scouts. No scout leaders will be there and there is no meeting. We will resume meetings on Tuesday, November 12th.

NOVEMBER CAMPOUT The next campout is November 15 – 17th at Camp Betz.

  • We are camping with Troop 287. We have never been to this camp before so it should be fun checking it out.
  • Please bring your permission slip to the troop meeting on Nov. 12th.
  • The cost for the campout is $40.

  • I will be sending out a separate email this weekend with details about the campout that I will need help with. Please look for this email sometime this weekend. I
  • will need to start getting an idea of who is going on the campout, who can help with transportation, and I will need someone who is going that can pull the yellow trailer.

Re-registration! It is time to make sure your scout is still a scout again for the next year!

  • You might receive an email from the council asking you to re-register your scout through their portal/technology. PLEASE IGNORE THIS. We are going to plan to have the troop re-register scouts directly. We would like you to do as you have in the past. Please pay the registration fee directly to the troop.
  • The cost is $200 for youth members and $100 for adults. You can pay that to Sherry at the next troop meeting on November 12th or you can pay it at our payment portal, using the same link as the campout.
  • We need to have this paid AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. This is not something that can be put off. If it is, it is entirely possible your scout does not get re-registered for another year, or you have to go through all of the paperwork again to get them re-registered. Let’s try to avoid that!

DISCORD – this is a new way that we are trying to communicate with scouts and parents. It is an app that you can be a part of and we can have a lot of important communication to do so.  You can create an account at https://discord.com/ and look for Troop 244. Mr. Florian is the one administering the account. When you create an account and ask for permission to join our channel/server, you must use your real name as it would appear on your name badge on your uniform. If you already have a discord account, then your server name in your profile, one you join our troop server, must also be your real name as it would appear on your name badge. We won’t approve you if your real name is not evident. THIS IS ONLY FOR CURRENT AND ACTIVE troop members. We are not letting anyone else into this server including past members who are no longer active. We will be posting a lot of information here so it is a good place to look!
